 DIY Yarn Tassel Wall Decor

What you'll need:

That's Keanu the cat, he has to hang around on the table when I am using it of course. 

• Yarn ($2 at Big Lots)
• Rod with hanging string
• Scissors

First I hung the rod up on the back of my chair for easier access.

Then I cut the string at various lengths. 

 And here is Keanu stepping over my stuff. 

Tie the strings in a "cow hitch" style onto the rod. 

Here is an example of two types of knotting, one string vs three strings. I preferred the three string style because it was less time consuming and the thicker style looked neater. 

Now that I added all the string it's time to cut the angle. 

I moved the rod to my wall and placed tape (hard to see in picture) on the string to make sure my angle edges were straight. 

And snip, snip, snip

Now lets make some tassels!

 I tied the tassels at different lengths and hung that BE-OTCH up. 

 

DIY Up-cycled T-shirt Pillows

 

Have a couple of old t-shirts that have awesome logos but are never worn?

Lets make some t-shirt pillows.

 First grab a shirt.

 Pin around the design with at least a 1-2 inch seam allowance and cut your shape. 

 Turn the shirt inside out and pin the shirt together. 

 I sewed the material together using my mini sewing machine and left the bottom material unsewn, see below picture. Turn the material right side out (logo design out) and stuff the pillow. 

 Once the pillow is stuffed, fold the edges inwards and pin down. 

Sew the material as close to the edge as possible for a finished look and voila!

I had a voodoo souvenir t-shirt that did not fit well but I loved the skeleton so now I have two mini t-shirt pillows. Follow the same procedures for sewing.

In the top right corner I added the big dipper constellation.

From this to that: Dish towel pillow

 Dollar Tree dish towel into a miniature couch pillow:

I saw a DIY project with a Dollar Tree dish towel and had to replicate it. 

Materials:

• One dish towel from Dollar Tree 15x25in 
• Iron
• Sewing machine or needle and thread
• Pillow stuffing (Walmart $3.47 - I used half a bag)
• Hot glue gun

Step 1: Fold the towel in half to your desired shape and style MAKING sure to fold it inside out. I folded my towel in half hamburger style. Then iron the towel to remove any unwanted creases. 

 Step 2: Pin each side with sewing pins. I pinned 1/2 inch in -avoiding the thicker edge so my sewing machine could make it through. Make sure to leave one side open without pins because we will be turning the material inside out and stuffing it here. 

Step 3: Sewing- I cut away some of the thick edge so my sewing machine could make it on. I bought my sewing machine at Aldi's for less than $15 and its a mini machine so it can only do basic sewing.

The frayed edge is where I kept the sides open.

Then turn the pillow case right side out and you should have clean sew lines that are hidden. 

Step 4: Stuff until desired pushiness. I only used half of my stuffing: costing me $1.74 for stuff this pillow. 

 Step 5: Hot glue the frayed edges down and then hot glue the 2 sides together. You could also sew the open side instead of hot glue but keep in mind you will see the stitching. 

 You can see the difference on the bottom left corner where the hot glue is but for me it is a minor imperfection. 

The pillow goes perfect with my couch and only cost me $2.74!
